These rules apply to every moment email, on top of anything you set in the email itself.
Your address
Moment emails go from your own address on your own domain, through the account you connected when you turned the email on.
How often
- At most one email a day to a person.
- At most 3 emails in a person's first 14 days.
- No emails between 21:00 and 08:00 in the person's time zone. An email due at night waits until 08:00. If PennyPost doesn't know their time zone, it doesn't hold the email.
When an email is skipped
Each email checks again right before it sends. It's skipped when the person has already:
- opened your results page
- done the first action
- finished setup
- come back
Results counts these people as "came back before the email", so you can see how many got there on their own.
Unsubscribing
Every email has an unsubscribe link that never expires, and the one-click unsubscribe headers mail apps use for their own Unsubscribe button. Someone who unsubscribes doesn't get moment emails again.
Bounces and complaints
An address that bounces or gets marked as spam is never emailed again. After a moment has sent 100 emails, it pauses itself if more than 2% bounce or more than 0.08% are marked as spam, so a bad list can't hurt your domain. You'll see it paused on Moments.
New accounts
A new account warms up: up to 200 emails a day for the first 3 days, 1,000 a day until day 7, and 5,000 a day until day 14. Emails over the day's limit wait for the next day.
Tracking
Open and click tracking is off by default. PennyPost measures what matters, whether the person came back, from your app's own page views.
